My keyboard has become disgustingly filthy, and I don't really know how to clean it properly ;D . Has anyone got any suggestions? There is loads of dirt stuck down all the small gaps, and most of the keys are turning brown. I've tried several ways so far, but all they seem to do is spread the dirt everywhere .

Assuming you have a "normal" keyboard, you can simply take out each single key... I do that from time to time and then just rub them clean with some water and dry them before putting them back. My keyboard is nothing fancy, so I can easily use any cleaning detergent, too. My keys are not THAT easy to pull out, so I use a screwdriver for the first key. They are quite robust. But if you break yours, don't complain!

Thanks so much guys! I didn't want to pry the keys out if that would break it. They were really stiff (which is why I didn't try to pul them out), but i managed to get them out with a knife (safety first ) A bit of cotton wool and water and my keyboard will be beautiful again. Thanks again! ;D

pry off the sticky keys, clean with water/soap or alchohol. Works good. I have been known to soak one in warm soapy water, like the bathtub, and hang it on the clothes line for a few days in the sun. A soft bristle brush came in handy, too. Old toothbrush is what i used. I dont recommend u soak one, unless its really that sticky or nasty. seriously tho, i currently use an 8 dollar keyboard from walmart. I would really buy another $8.00 keyboard before i trust my system to a keyboard i have soaked and dried.

;D lol just wiki'ed everclear : In the United States, Everclear is a brand of grain alcohol (ethanol), available at concentrations of 95% alcohol (190 proof) and 75.5% (151 proof).[1] By contrast, hard liquors such as rum and vodka generally contain 40% alcohol (80 proof). Everclear is manufactured by Luxco (formerly the David Sherman Corporation).[2] Since 95.6% ethanol and 4.4% water is an azeotrope, meaning that simple distillation can not concentrate the alcohol further, 191 proof spirits are essentially the maximum proof easily available for consumption. It is illegal to purchase the 190 proof version in certain states in the US, including Ohio, California, Minnesota,[3] Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Washington, Hawaii, and Florida.[citation needed] Due to Everclear's lack of sugar and impurities (congeners), it may make drinkers less vulnerable to hangovers[citation needed]. Everclear (or any high proof grain alcohol) is rarely consumed straight and is nearly always used as a mixer. 95% alcohol so yes that will do ;D

I never washed my keyboard... and it's still doing well. I think the best trick is to be careful not to put any liquid things or food too close of it. It will be easier to clean if there is no food stuck in it.

P.S. and yes, i spilled it on my keyboard while mixing with orange juice, stiiiiiiiiiccccccckkkkkkkkyyyy. But the everclear cut it right off.
