As a 16 year old, i am a bit confused at the moment. With all of this bad stuff against Bush and McCain saying they are War Criminal's and Barrack a muslim, a terroist, it's hard for me to see the good in any of them. When I'm older, i am going into the Army to fight for my country, but fighting a war for oil? I am not sure. So, even if i can't vote, i am seeing what you British men and women and American's who will vote for the election.

I'm not voting. If these two morons are the best we have in this country, we are in pretty bad shape. I am a strict 'exercise your right to vote' enthusiast, but with these candidates, it isn't worth my gas money to go vote.

I usually don't post in this thread any more as I seem to stir up a hornet's nest but if you want to feel safer against radical terrorists, vote for McCain at least your voting for something. And if he picks Romney for his VP that would be a good ticket. Obama speaks very eloquently about nothing. tib

I'm going to try to not start an argument here. My family has a long history of fighting for this country (back to revolutionary war). I am proud of that history and I try to honor them as best as possible. However, I also have not voted since the Bush/Gore election. That election was proof positive that the will of the American people is not respected in an election. Gore won the popular vote, but Bush was still declared the winner based on the Electoral College votes. I am suprised anyone still votes after that farce. doc

If that was the case Hillary would be the Dem winner not Obama and Gore would have won 2000. If Gore won not sure how America would be today, probably less safe IMO. tibs

"the will of the American people is not respected in an election"
Precisely... The intention of the founding fathers was to have an electoral process for president that IGNORED the "will of the people".
They were concerned that an uneducated or mob-type public would vote based on popularity or some other foolish type of consideration.
The electoral college has been a good safeguard against that, though the electoral voters are chosen by different methods in each state, for the most part it has worked.
This was put in place to prevent someone like a hitler getting elected. The theory about the electoral college voters is that they are a bridge between the general public (the mob) and the politicians (people educated in government).
It certainly isn't perfect, though most of the fuss has been created simply from the side that doesn't want the electoral college anymore.
WE DO NOT CHOOSE THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES BY POPULAR VOTE AND NEVER HAVE.
Go out and do a search on those that want the electoral college abolished and you will see some interesting parallels.
How many of you know who your electoral voter is? How many of you know how your electoral voters are elected to the college in your state?
I agree with Beeshbum, if these two sycophants are the best the US can do then we are pretty screwed.
McCain is certifiably insane, Obama is the most communist political candidate ever to receive "the nod" from the democratic party.
I heard a quote once....
"A countries leader is only a reflection of the people"
hmmmm.....
The barbarians are at the gate.
(and for the record, I do not vote in the federal beauty contest, though I am active in state and local political processes where I can exert some influence)

I hate politicians lol No disrespect to you Tibs just my thoughts.
